   一般来说，如果你已经掌握了三、四千词汇量，那就够你平时用了。如果数一下你平时用的中文词汇量，大概也不会超过这个数量。如果你的日用词汇量在五千以上，那你绝对是个文质彬彬，成语连篇，出口成章的文人了。

   掌握足够的名词，就会让你对事物部位有精确并且不啰嗦的描述。如果你不知道“手”叫什么，所以你就不得不说“我身上拿东西的那个部位”，那多难受啊！

   要把一件事说的活龙活现，让听的人感到历历在目扣人心弦，那不仅要有适当的形容词而且要明白听众在听的时候会怎么理解你的言语、会怎么想象你的词汇。用你的母语是这样，用你学的外语也是这样。

   In general, if your vocabulary has already reached 3,000 to 4,000 words, you should be able to communicate without much trouble. I believe even with your mother tongue, maybe you only use that amount of words. If you use more than 5000 words in your daily language, you could be using idioms freely and quoting scriptures often.

   Knowing enough nouns is important. It helps you to emphasize things accurately. You need enough adjectives to describe thing vividly, but you have to know how your audience will react to your words.
